Massachusetts Solstice: Warming Winter Wonderland with Wim Wenders and Astounding Alliteration.
A whirlwind weekend of Ellis Ashbrook in Massachusetts is always a fun time, but this weekend was extra special. Maybe it was the extra holiday cheer, or that these were the last shows of the year, or the silliness of the road (riding with Wimmy Wimmy Wenders), or hanging deep with and supporting ‘The Big Sway’ — complete with a late-night, unplanned mash-up-jam of the two bands trading off instruments and vocal duties at an industrial practice-space in Holyoke; whatever the cause, the effect was a weekend of high-spirits and ripping shows. Ellis was in top form providing two sets over two nights on both the east and west sides of the Commonwealth, repeating only two songs, keeping it fresh, funky, and of course fun. The musicianship is nearing all time highs, which bodes well for the serious recording about to take place in the new year, while also sending a clear message to the world that 2013 has ended with a bang and Ellis Ashbrook is gonna rock you extra hard in 2014. Stay tuned for the next show in Providence, RI on Jan 25 and of course the next Space Palace Party on Jan 31! HUGE!
